Entering Ads
1. From an Account:
Search for and open the appropriate account
Go to participation (your journal campaign must be set as your default campaign)
Click on New Ad
2. From the Ads Administration:
Go to Journal - Ad Admin (or press "Ad Admin" button on the toolbar)
Click "New" to create a new ad.
ENTER AD INFORMATION:
Page Type - No drafting can be done without the page size selected.
Ad Status - This must be filled in correctly for the journal process to go smoothly!
Accounts – The ad must be linked to an account or you will not be able to track who sent the ad.
If the ad module was opened through an account, this will be already filled in. Click on the ellipsis to link this ad to an account, or to link additional accounts.
You can right click on an account to set it as the Primary account for this ad.
Check Anonymous if the source of this ad is unknown.
Honorees – select the honoree from the list. Click on the ellipsis to add it. If
there is more than one honoree, right click on the appropriate one and mark it primary.
(This will ensure proper sorting of ads.)
ENTER THE AD TEXT:
The ad is now ready to be entered. The text can be typed manually in the ad window.
The ad module includes the standard editing features. Hover the mouse over the buttons
found on the top toolbar for options available.
Quick Text:
Phrases and names that are used often can be added into Quick Text for quick entry.. To add a phrase, select it from the list and press the arrow.
You can add additional phrases under Tools – List Editor – Editable List – Ads Quick Texts
Import Text:
Another shortcut for entering text is to use the Import Text option. This option allows you to copy the text from a preexisting ad. Pressing "Import Text" will prompt you to
select an existing ad from the account(s) listed for the current ad. Click on the ellipsis to browse for a different account. The text from the original ad will be
added.
Additional shortcuts to adding commonly used text are available. Right click on an honoree or account for further options.
Insert Image:
Click on the "Insert Image" tab on the left. Then click on the three dots and choose the image you would like to add to the journal ad. When you click load you will see the image in the side bar with the image properties. You can change the properties if you would like. Click insert to add the image to your ad.
GENERAL TIPS:
If there are two ads that are supposed to be facing each other – enter them as one continuous ad. This will cause the ad to flow onto two pages. Before printing the
final journal however, check to make sure that the pages are facing each other rather than displaying back to back.
To keep lines from separating with a line break, use shift+enter instead of the usual enter. To enter a non-breaking space, use ctrl+shift+spacebar
Columns should be entered as a table.
WHAT ARE TWIPS?
Twips are used as a size unit. There are approximately 1440 twips to an inch.
Keeping Lines together (Single Paragraph)
Shift + Enter
(AKA- Soft Enter)
A soft return creates a line break within a single paragraph whereas a hard return (Enter) will create a new paragraph. A soft return should be used when a journal ad lists multiple honorees or multiple account names.
