A transaction log is inserted each time an attempt is made to bill a credit card payment. It tracks:
- The date and time the card was billed
- If the card was processed
- If the card was approved
- The message
- The error message
- If you want to send an email to the donor to notify him of the unsuccessful bill attempt
- If the email was sent
- If it was resolved
- Notes
Each time a transaction log is inserted it updates the Bill Attempt Number on the payment.
To view a transaction log from the account screen: edit the payment and click on the green icon near the credit card information on the payment.
You can also view the transaction log from the credit card billing screen: right click on the payment and view transaction logs.
Failed Transaction Forms
When a transaction fails the above form will pop up. It gives you options of how to proceed with this unsuccessful charge. You can:
- Change the payment date to a later date when you want to attempt to bill the card again
- Change the payment method
- Change the card
- Enter in notes regarding this transaction
- Void the payment – saves the payment as a $0 payment. You can record the reason why you voided the payment in the notes.
- Send email to donor – there is a mailing which you can set up to email out to donor notifying him of the failed transaction
- Attempt to Bill on Save – attempt to bill the card again when you hit ok. If it fails again, the form will pop up again.
