Due to an update in the Gmail security settings, you will need to create an app password to authenticate with Advisor, instead of using your traditional login password.
- Go to the Google Account settings of the email address you'd like to use for Advisor
- Select Security
- Under Signing into Google, look for App Passwords. If you see this option, click on it, then skip to step #6
- Click 2-step Verification, and follow the prompts to enable it. You may be prompted to login.
- Once 2-step Verification has been enabled, look again for App Passwords. If you do not have this option, it might be because:
2-Step Verification is not enabled for the organization. To allow the use of 2fa, refer to step #2 at https://support.google.com/a/answer/9176657, and check again. - At the bottom, choose the Other option under Select app, enter "Admire", click Generate.
- The app password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar that appears. Copy it and enter it in the SMTP Password field below
- Click Done.
