Article Summary

By setting up a course, you are associating a subject being taught for a specific term for a grade and class by a specific teacher.

Example: Math I is taught in Year 2020 to Grade 9, Class 9C by Miss Cohen

To set up a course go to:

School >> Courses to open the course browser.

In the course browser, you are able to view and then change All courses and Current courses. In addition, you can set up a new course.

Edit existing courses:

  1. On the left hand side of the screen click on "Search" under the Course Lookup. (You may choose current courses so that only the courses for the current term will appear in the list. If the term did not yet begin, the courses will not come up under the current courses lookup.)
  2. To minimize your search, you may choose to filter.
    1. Use an existing filter from the list
    2. Click on the ellipsis and then click on down arrow to create a New filter.

Example: You may want to search for all courses offered by Grade and be prompted to enter the grade. (See Report wizard for more information on filters.)

Adding a new Course

You can create a new course by clicking on http://support.admng.com/files/images/recordicon-new.jpgfrom the record navigator at the bottom of the screen.

An empty course screen will appear as follows:

  • Select the Term, Grade, Class, Subject and Teacher.
  • You have optional fields to fill out:
    • Department- this will limit the courses to show up in reports and lookups by department.
    • Location
    • Code

Note: If any of required selections don’t appear in the drop down, you can add them to the list by clicking on the ellipsis button, and follow the screen to add whatever is necessary.

  1. Click on Save http://support.admng.com/files/images/recordicon-save.jpgto save the course record

Adding Sessions:

A session is the specific time and location that the given course is taught (i.e. Periods)

Example: Miss Cohen's Math I class is taught to class 9C on Monday from 1:30 - 2:10 in classroom #115. This might be known as 5th Period.

Find the course you would like to add sessions to.

  1. Under the session tab, click "New..." The following screen will appear

http://support.admng.com/files/images/session-select.jpg

  1. Select Teacher, Location, Start Time and End Time of the period.
  2. Days of Week: If this course has the same teacher, location, start time and end time for more than 1 day a week, you can create a few sessions by clicking on the appropriate days of the week.
  3. Session Dates- if differs from the term dates. Otherwise will default to Term dates.

In this example, the following sessions were now created:

The SCHEDULE Tab will display the sessions created for the course in a calendar view.

Note: If the session timing differ on different days of the week, you would create multiple sessions within the course choosing the times and checking off for the correct days.
